I see handwriting becoming a lost skill and transforming into its own art form. Cursive doesn’t appear to be taught in many schools anymore. However, I believe that having a unique signature -- not just a scribble, writing notes by hand, and doodling on paper with a pen to be part of the human experience, and representative of an active mind, a curiosity.

 

The Evolution of the Autograph Book is De-Evolution. Not moving forward but bringing forward a past novelty. Something with real meaning -- not a toy from a fast-food chain’s lunch box for kids or a bobble-head from a home game or another toss away micro-plastic thing.

 

In the world of collectables, an autograph received live in a moment – often fleeting -- is not something that is, or can be, mass-produced. Each one is a “one-of-a-kind” signature. Art in it’s own way. Even a signature from the same person are perfectly the same…ever. Always close but never exactly the same in where and how the pen touched the paper, the speed of the pen’s stroke, the flow of the ink. This is what makes collecting autographs so exciting. And having a signature is like owning an original work of art. Very Special.

They are not stuffed toys, trinkets or action figure left in their boxes.
